About the Speaker: This year’s lecture is being presented by Prof. Vinay Lal of the University of California at Los Angeles. Prof. Lal has a PhD from the University of Chicago and has taught history at UCLA since 1993. He has authored 14 books including several related to Gandhi.
About the play and the dance: The lecture is followed by the presentation of a short play entitled “Satyagrah – Truth Force.” The dialogues in the play are in the English language. The play is being directed by Ms. Kathi Langston, Artistic Director, The Ottawa School of Theatre. The next item is an Odissi dance choreographed by Odissi Nrutyayana on the theme of “Vaishnav Jan To…” Gandhi’s favorite hymn.
